Responding to the COVID-19 crisis in Zambia, local authorities, backed by UNDP Accelerator Labs, Sweden & Ireland, are racing to prevent the virus from overcoming communities & market areas most prone to contagion.
The COVID-19 pandemic is the latest crisis facing the world, but unless humans release their grip on nature, it won’t be the last, according to a new report by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which includes a new experimental index on human progress that takes into account countries’ carbon dioxide emissions and material footprint.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has called attention to the importance of supporting business continuity of GBV prevention quality services to reduce GBV cases amidst the COVID19 pandemic, which has impacted women and girls disproportionately leading to further socio-economic inequalities faced everyday.
The newly established Gender-Based Violence(GBV) One Stop Centre (OSC) was launched on 24 June 2020, in Meheba Resettlement Scheme, Kalumbila District, North Western Province, as an initiative to address the third pillar focusing on advancing social cohesion under the Promoting Human Security Through Sustainable Resettlement Programme.
The United Nation Development Programme (UNDP)’s Accelerator Lab, National Technology Business Centre (NTBC) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is calling for applications for the 2021 National Innovation Initiative. The National Innovation Initiative being held in collaboration with the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) and the Patents and Companies Registrations Agency (PACRA) is looking for innovations with the highest potential impact.
The Accelerator Lab (AccLab) team in Zambia embarked on the waste management challenge with enthusiasm. Even before attending the Nesta led Collective Intelligence Design Studio, the team was already using different Collective intelligence methods. As acknowledged in the collective design playbook, the idea of Collective Intelligence (CI) is not new since it is underpinned by the theory that groups of diverse people are collectively smarter than any single individual on their own.
